National Youth Council of Ireland comes to Waterford!

 

NYCI will be in Waterford with their One World Week training event for youth workers and others working with young people. This year's theme is Bouncing Back and it explores resilience among young people.

This training will take place on Tuesday, the 9th of October, at the Edmund Rice Youth & Community Centre (across from Masons) from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  This event is free of charge but booking is essential, please contact the Centre on 051 873064 to reserve your place.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2012

The Centre held our Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 Celebrations on the 1st of March at the Granville Hotel. Joining us were Samatha Valluri from Chetna Organic in India, an organisation that works with small farmers, and Melanie Drea from Fairtrade Ireland.  Ms. Valluri gave a very interesting talk on the importance of Fairtrade to the farmers that she works with.

Also on the night, Centre staff Susan Gallwey and Lucy Whittle, recently returned from visiting two Fairtrade cooperatives in Ghana, gave a slideshow presentation and talk about their experiences.
